The 7mm caliber holds many advantages when comparing the traditional 308 cartridge and traditional caliber of .308 (30 cal). I presently have a box of 139 Hornady sst bullets to load. I have on hand H414, IMR4064, and H4350 powders to try. Also have CCI200 primers. Jul 19, 2017 · Planning on getting a Savage Axis and putting heavy 24" barrel on it in 7mm-08AI as designated range gun. Still waiting on E.R. Shaw to deliver my barrel for my Mauser build. Started life as an Interarms Whitworth in 270 Win with fully adjustable trigger. Build is 24" Shaw 1.5 contour barrel in 284 Win. They don't list the A-tip in the load data for the match, so I used 175smk data. Don't do that! 46.0 is max for 175smk @2.800 I loaded up to 45.6 with the 176 A-tip @ 2.875 This was way to hot & lost 2 of 5 primers. This was also in a 18" AR Start well below 45.0 for Staball Match with the 176 a-tips & that's if your loading long 2.875+ ….

Jan 20, 2013 · Idaho, USA. IMR4895 is a perfect match for the .308 and 150 grain bullets. If somewhere between 44 to 46 grains doesn't shoot straight something is wrong with the rifle. It should give right around 2800 fps from a 22" barrel. Do start lower, though. The Sierra manual tops out at 43.7 grains, Nosler at 44.5, Speer at 45 and Hornady at just over 46. In my 7mm-08, it's awesome! Never found a better combination than 7-08, 140 grain bullet and Varget (42.5 grains=2850 fps). My 7-08 Mountain Rifle shoots 140 ABs at 2730 with 43 grains of Varget. Even with the skinny barrel, it'll shoot 3 into about .75" if I let the barrel cool between shots.

I recommend magnum primers with 760. I had one Sako A1 that would shoot less than an inch at 100 yards for five shot groups at 2825 fps with 140 BT's. That was 48.0 grs and flattened primers. Best thing to do is to work up for YOUR gun. RL19 tends to be a pretty fluffy powder so expect compressed loads. If it were me, based on BC of bullets I would go with 160-175 grain bullets, leaning toward 160. Not the answer you were looking for I know, sorry. Kenny.
